Pete Acquisto's Biography

Pete was born near Santa Fe, New Mexico, moved to California for ten years, and returned to New Mexico with his family.  He has lived in Albuquerque ever since.  His mother is a native New Mexican and his father a Sicilian from Buffalo, NY.  His father was a wonderful carver of furniture.  Pete attended the University of New Mexico and became interested in jewelry making.  He and Dee were married in 1970 and they have a son, Michael.

Pete was a jeweler for ten years before he became interested in miniatures.  In 1980 he made one of his first pieces and the transition began from jewelry to miniature reproductions in sterling silver.  He works in one-inch and ½-inch scales.  He has done several limited edition pieces in 18K gold.  These pieces are all numbered and trademarked.  The collection of silver reproductions has grown to over 50 pieces, mostly of English and American silversmiths from the 16th to the 18th century.  Pete became an IGMA Fellow in 1984 and NAME AOH in 1985.  His work is in many private collections, and miniature museums across the United States and overseas.  Pete enjoys golf, racquet ball, and swimming.
